velwyn asked: Hi Fiona, I am in love with your work - it's unconventional and the line quality is amazing! I am trying to build my name as well in fashion illustration and perhaps I will buy your work one day <3

Thank you so much! It’s always so nice to hear people are enjoying it x

So recently I’ve been working on my dissertation and I’ve not been able to relax and enjoy drawing. I handed it in on Wednesday and today I say down and got out my inks, it feels so great to do what I love again.

'Submerged' - illustrated by Fiona GourlayRecent work for the Maison Martin Margiela exhibition at SHOWstudio, each of the illustrators were given scents from Margiela’s ‘replica’ range and asked to communicate a memory. My scent was ‘Lazy Sunday Morning’, I chose to focus on the memory and feeling of being submerged in water.

Volt 14 - Illustrated

Dearest all, I was lucky enough to part of the new Volt 14’ illustrated App, alongside some brilliant illustrators, take a moment to have a peek! xxx

washawayyourenvyandfear asked: I love your illustrations! I think they almost appear zombie-like which says a lot about those who buy into all the latest trends and fast fashions. Was just wondering, how did you develop your illustration style?

Thank you! It’s always so nice to hear positive feedback! I always find it really tricky to answer this question, I’ve always drawn in the same kind of style, though the past few years I began realizing that I was limiting myself due to always being so fixated on messing up and things not being perfect, so I started to be more playful with line which i think just began to work a lot better for me in terms of getting my ideas and aesthetic across.
